Screen-Printing: A Heritage Craft
Screen-Printing is a thousand year old craft that originated in China and later on spread across the Asian continent and eventually the Western world. A craft so beautiful and versatile, it was used by contemporary artists like Andy Warhol - he created his famous Marilyn Monroe artwork on the basis of this technique. Screen-printing is essentially the process of transferring a design on to fabric, with the use of screens and ink. For each color in the motif, a separate screen has to be created. Our Azo-free colors are all hand-mixed by our very own color specialist.
A creative Collaboration
Screen-printing is a meticulous, creative and dynamic collaboration between the printer and designer: the original artworks and colours may be adjusted and tweaked numerous times to bring our design vision to life. The sampling phase can take up to three month to create the perfect prints and Vera ensures she is present to lead this collaboration with the printers for each collection.
