By the Sea at Cap Ferrat

Reverie Collection · Spring 2026

Cap Ferrat is a small peninsula on the French Riviera, barely four kilometres long, that has been a refuge for the seriously wealthy since the Belle Époque. It does not announce itself. There are no grand hotels visible from the road, no neon, no signs pointing you to anything in particular. The villas sit behind high walls and dense Mediterranean planting — maritime pines, old olive trees, bougainvillea trained over stone — and what you see from the water, if you are in a boat looking back at the cape, is a cliff face interrupted by the occasional flash of white façade and, everywhere, gardens tumbling to the sea.

The French Riviera has a very specific relationship with roses. The climate is almost too good for them — the winters mild enough that many varieties never fully dormant, the springs warm and long, the summer sun intense enough to bleach colour to something pale and almost watercolour. Riviera roses are often a faded version of their original shade: deep pinks that have quieted to blush, reds that have softened to something nearer terracotta. They grow over walls and tumble out of urns and appear, unexpectedly, in corners of gardens you weren't meant to be in.

Villa Céleste from the Reverie collection, in both colorways:

Villa Céleste Rose

Villa Céleste is one of those Cap Ferrat properties that is known more by reputation than by sight: a grand heritage home set into the clifftops, its sea-facing gardens descending in terraces to a private landing stage. The gardens are old and slightly wild in the way that the best Mediterranean gardens are — not untended, but not too tended either, the kind of garden that has been allowed to develop its own ideas over several decades.

The Villa Céleste Rose print takes the roses of those sea-facing gardens as its subject — not photographically, but in the manner of a watercolour made on a warm afternoon: the flowers slightly soft at the edges, the colours carrying that bleached quality of roses in strong Mediterranean light, the whole image somehow both precise and dreamlike. It is a print about a specific kind of beauty that belongs to a specific kind of place: unhurried, elegant, and utterly at ease with itself.

"Named after a grand heritage home nestled along the cliffs of Cap Ferrat, this print draws from its sea-facing gardens and pale, weathered roses. Rendered in soft watercolours, the florals echo the quiet elegance of summers by the Mediterranean."
Villa Céleste Rose — the print
Villa Céleste Rose Moodboard

The Reverie collection was built around exactly this kind of print: something that carries a place and a feeling, that you wear not just because it is beautiful but because it makes you feel as though you are already somewhere you want to be. Villa Céleste Rose is the most romantic of the Reverie prints — the most unabashedly pretty, the one most likely to make you want to clear your calendar and go somewhere beautiful.

The Print, Up Close

Every Beyond by Vera print begins as an original illustration — drawn by hand by Vera Fritsch and her team of print designers. Villa Céleste Rose was sketched with that watercolour quality in mind: the soft edges of Riviera roses in afternoon light, the way strong sun bleaches colour to something pale and luminous. Each floral element was drawn from scratch. The result is a print that feels both classical and completely contemporary — the kind of romantic that never looks overdone.

The Reverie collection is made in limited numbers. Once Villa Céleste Rose sells out, it will not be produced again. These are pieces made to be worn and remembered.

Villa Céleste Rose Every Day — Wherever You Are

This print doesn't need a Mediterranean backdrop to do its work. Villa Céleste Rose is the dress that arrives at a dinner in San Francisco and immediately belongs there. The one that makes a Saturday afternoon in New York feel like you're exactly where you should be. The one that was made for an outdoor wedding in Connecticut and a garden party in Charleston with equal conviction.

The Lucy worn with espadrilles and a basket bag for a weekend afternoon. The Amber Skirt with a silk camisole and strappy heels for an evening event in Los Angeles. Both pieces work from morning to midnight depending entirely on how you style them — the watercolour florals always looking intentional, always looking right. That ease of dressing — effortless in any setting — is something we also explored in Palm Beach & Beyond →

Elevated everyday chic: comfortable enough to wear all day, beautiful enough to mean it. The Cap Ferrat feeling, wherever you find it.

✦ How to Wear It — Day & NightDay: The Lucy with flat sandals or espadrilles, a woven bag, and delicate gold jewellery — from a weekend lunch to an afternoon gallery visit. Evening: The Amber Skirt with a silk camisole, heeled mules, and a single statement earring. The pale watercolour florals read differently under candlelight than in afternoon sun — softer, more luminous. Let the print carry the evening.

About Villa Céleste Rose

Who designed the Villa Céleste Rose print?

Villa Céleste Rose was hand-drawn by Vera Fritsch and her team of print designers, inspired by the watercolour quality of roses in strong Mediterranean light. Every Beyond by Vera print begins as an original illustration — drawn in-house, from scratch, never sourced.

What should I wear on a French Riviera holiday?

The French Riviera calls for unhurried elegance — nothing overstated, nothing that tries too hard. A watercolour floral dress in a pale, sun-bleached palette works well for lunching in Èze, boarding a boat in Antibes, or spending a long afternoon on a Cap Ferrat terrace. The Villa Céleste Rose Lucy dress and Amber Skirt were designed with exactly this in mind: pieces that pack beautifully and feel as right by the sea as they do back home.

Is Villa Céleste Rose limited edition?

Yes. All Beyond by Vera garments are produced in small, limited runs. Once a print sells out it is not restocked. The Reverie collection, including Villa Céleste Rose, is available only while stock lasts.

What is the best dress to wear as a guest at an outdoor summer wedding?

A watercolour floral dress in a soft, non-white palette is ideal for an outdoor summer wedding — appropriately dressed without competing with the bridal party. Villa Céleste Rose, with its pale bleached Riviera rose palette, works well for garden ceremonies, vineyard weddings, and coastal venues. The Lucy dress photographs beautifully in natural light and has been worn to weddings from Connecticut to the south of France.
